Topic > In Eyes of One Man's Heart: A Memoir - 1551

“In Eyes of One Man's Heart” I never imagined that I would compose a story about my life. I have encountered considerable challenges and obstacles that have shaped and shaped me as a person. However, I have not experienced some of the hardships and struggles that others have faced in their lives, such as segregation, Jim Crow laws, riots, or the inability to vote. However, my physical, cognitive, and social development was the direct product of a hands-on religious education. I was born in a small town in Arkansas to a relatively large family. My mother and father had seven children, three girls and four boys and I am the youngest child. My mother was an extremely strict and religious person who believed in accompanying her family to church every Sunday. I didn't know much about my father, he died when I was only ten months old from lung cancer; which was unexpected because he had never smoked. Growing up, I remember watching my friends play catch with their dads and their dads coming to basketball games. This depressed me because I felt like I was missing out on something that a child desperately needs; a father's love. There were many days when I didn't want to get out of bed or even leave the house, my mother forced me to get up and go out. Men are more likely to ignore symptoms and try to “tough it out” when they feel depressed. . (Witt & Mossier, 2010, Early Adulthood, chap. 3 p.19). I remember many nights lying in my bed reflecting on my father, how tall he was, his facial features, etc. I finally approached my mother to find out more information about my father. My mother said that my father was an excellent man... a middle of paper... everything I did in my life, right or wrong, taught me something. . “Our mental abilities vary widely in later life, but cognitive abilities generally remain good until very old age for most people” (Witt & Mossier, 2010, Early Adulthood, ch. 5 p.53). I'm not too old to learn, which is why I attend Ashford University. I may not know what I want to major in or what I want to do with my degree. I thank the Lord and the Ashford University family for the opportunity to correct a wrong decision. References Witt, G. A., & Mossler, R. A. (2010). Adult development and life evaluation.
