It has been influenced by a variety of cultures, particularly the indigenous peoples of Mexico and those of Europe (Wikipedia). Mexican music can be classified into two aspects known as Son and Ranchera. Son's formal structure is based on alternating instrumental sections and the singing of short poetic units called copulas (Wikipedia). This type of music is a mixture of Spanish and indigenous music from different regions. Later, the word Ranchera was named after the word rancho because it originated in the ranches and countryside of rural areas
