Pat tries to get around people but it seems like almost everyone is afraid of him and what he will do. His father and mother are worried about him, but have faith that he will change and that everything will be okay in the end. Throughout the film we see that his father constantly tells Pat how much he believes in him and that he only wants the best for him. In my opinion the impact on those around him was portrayed realistically, there is a great amount of emotion and faith within the film which makes it believable for the film.
