According to the OEC, Rwanda's largest export is metals such as niobium, tantalum, vanadium and zirconium and the largest import is automobiles (Simoes). According to the World Bank, Rwanda's GDP currently stands at $17.09 billion (World Bank). The lack of technology has caused farming and agricultural progress to come to a halt. The majority of Rwanda's population was Roman Catholic. The demographic pressure in Rwanda was very strong. Rwanda is already a country struggling with overpopulation, so this is a serious problem. According to the Center for Law and Globalization, women in Rwanda have never been equal to men and after the genocides the situation has become worse than before. Opportunities for women were scarce, including minimal education and job opportunities, and they could not participate in political events unless her husband approved (CLG).
