IndexCapstone ReflectionCapstone ActivitiesReflectionCapstone ReflectionAs the NUR 405 Nursing Practicum comes to a close, I can reflect on my clinical skills in this course and my growth toward achieving my distinct behavioral goals. At the beginning of this course, I set goals for myself, which I set out to achieve by the end of the semester. These goals included: effectively communicating the patient's care summary in SBAR format, safely and effectively administering medications, correctly performing the physical assessment, and carefully monitoring the patient. Although I still have much to learn in the role of a future graduate nurse, I have achieved my behavioral goals for this quarter. St. Thomas University's NUR 405 course has aided leadership by allowing students to have their understanding of learning culminate in the graduate program. By carrying out my project, I also learned sincerity, humility, collaboration, management and resourcefulness. I believe the NUR 405 course is truly necessary to allow students to demonstrate what they have received education through the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at St. Thomas University. I dedicated a few hours to my professional portfolio ensuring competence and precision. I think the portfolio represents a new phase of presentation of nursing portfolios that can really improve a nurse's performance. Other activities in the nursing practice course included an evaluation of the student learning environment and changes that led to the development of these goals. These projects forced students to reflect on past assignments in the baccalaureate program that culminated in their knowledge experiences during the program.
