When you consider all the famous artists and art movements of the past, it is difficult to choose just one to write about. However, after thinking about all my options, I decided to write about an American artist known for his pop art style street art, Keith Haring. Haring was born in Reading, Pennsylvania in May 1958. He had developed a love of drawing and art at a young age and admired popular animations such as Dr. Seuss, Looney Toons and Disney. Haring grew up with this passion and already knew he wanted to be an artist when he graduated from high school. It was this passion for art that led him to become the famous artist we know today ("Life and Legacy"). Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Get an Original Essay After realizing his goal of becoming an artist, Haring continued to pursue those dreams after high school. He initially attended the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh in 1976, but dropped out because he did not want to become a graphic artist at the School of Visual Arts in 1978 located in New York City. It was then that he began to develop ideas that would later become his unique style. Haring became interested in art that took place outside of galleries and museums, particularly those on the streets run by graffiti artists. This was what inspired him to start making his white chalk drawings in the subways using simple lines. Little did he know that these ideas would lead him to create many famous powerful works ("Life and Legacy"). Keith's work in the subway was really what I think made his career take off. The metropolitan art he created allowed him to satisfy his desire to reach a wider audience on important topics. By the age of 20, he had a strong vision of art and the subjects he used as inspiration. He eventually created thousands of public articles addressing public issues and made his name known (int2). Most of these pieces used certain images and lyrics to communicate issues such as drug addiction, AIDS, illicit love, and apartheid. He was able to create a vibrant new way of addressing the world's problems. To draw public attention to these serious problems, he used bright colors, cartoony images and simple lines. In this way he was able to create many famous pieces that were not only beautiful, but also sent specific messages to the audience ("Overview and Analysis"). Throughout Keith's career he has created many beautiful and meaningful images. The first of Haring's works that caught my attention is an untitled piece that many people describe as radiant love. This piece was created in 1982 with acrylic on vinyl. It is also an image of two men in love with multiple lines of energy around them appearing to dance in front of a large red heart in the center. Even though this painting is flat, it uses bold lines to outline the characters and a vibrant red color that stands out from the innocent and attractive background like this The piece is which was very controversial at the time. He created it to send a statement to the world about same-sex love. It also expressed Haring's attitude towards power, love and romance. This piece was in a sense the beginning of many other sexual works that Haring created during his life. Compared to these, the image of two men in love is rather mild. He was able to produce many images like this that attracted the attention of (“Works of Art”). Haring created multiple images that paid attention to the problems of the world. The. 2018.
