In the past, people began to learn with books, notebooks and articles, and therefore were used to finding information on paper. In a university, like IUBH or in any school, we can observe that without laptops or smartphones people would be lost, in the sense that no one would know how to study. As we observe daily, today's university study material consists more of digital platforms where slides are downloaded and ready to be studied by students; Academic books and journals are still present in libraries but are not used as often as other digital tools. The study carried out with only the digital tool (laptop, smartphone, tablet) does not provide the student with detailed information or does not inform him about in-depth research; instead a book can provide detailed facts and provide information as a whole, which is described much more precisely. Social media, as many say, does not allow the student to always concentrate while there is a certain percentage of distraction. Sometimes it happens that students, while studying on a laptop, do not stay focused on the task at hand, so this gives the student a chance to distract himself while browsing YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook. Other tools that distract students while studying on laptops are notifications and alerts that come from different social sites. Because of these distractions, students will spend less time outdoors playing sports, playing outside or reading books and much more time on deviceselectronic. Combined with the enormous amount of time people spend on social media, according to several surveys, they also spend more than 2 hours a day drinking and eating. This, of course, is not an entirely healthy way of living everyday life. Overall, social media is constantly changing and evolving, in business and education, and whether we agree or not, it has a dominant impact on them. In our survey, we conducted research on descriptive style. Our aim of this research objective was to find out the correlation between how social media influences the overall study behavior of IUBH students. We conducted our research using the method of a questionnaire followed by observation for several practical reasons. Questionnaires are the most convenient way to collect quantitative data; secondly, they are extremely skilled in selecting the required target audience. There can be some major drawbacks to using questionnaires. People who respond to your survey may not give you one hundred percent truthful answers, some other biases to the questionnaire may be the ability to analyze the data correctly, it may become too difficult to derive the relevant information due to lack of transparency. Our observation was conducted daily, within the social environment. As observed in the classroom, where social media is at the center of students' daily and social lives, we have also seen, being enrolled in university for a long time, that social media is not only taking over students in the classroom, but even in a more social atmosphere like Charlies, in the Canteen, in the SCR room, in the project room or in the Dallmayr Café. People, when observed in a social context, their scope of use can vary from one point to another, including how they use social media, at one point it may appear that the student is using it to carry out research on Google, or conversely searching for irrelevant information on Instagram or Snapchat. Beyond that, it is not known precisely how students invest their time using such social media applications inside and outside the classroom. The research we conducted was limited exclusively to the student population of the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef. Our information tool used was specifically narrowed down to the Facebook group ''IUBH Bad Honnef''. Until now, we have used the questionnaire to collect the data needed to conclude our findings. Our questionnaire was published from December 3, 2017 to January 3, 2018. We obtained a total of 51 responses. Our response rate was low due to some known variables. Having received responses during the winter semester, due to bad weather, cold weather and the holiday season (including the Christmas period), few people did not focus on Facebook, or to be more precise, did not look at the IUBH Facebook page where the survey was published all together. Furthermore, some people may have responded quickly without reading the questions carefully, due to lack of time and considerations during the Christmas holidays. At the end of our conclusions, we found the relevant information needed to find a correlation between the different variables. The conclusion of our findings regarding our questionnaire was compiled independently using the Internet as a source of information. The tool we used is the survey platform “Survey Monkey. In the questionnaire we obtained three different variables which are opinion, behaviorand attribute. The questionnaire consists of 10 multiple choice questions where respondents can use a multiple choice question. Per question, there are 2 to 10 choices, where for a question there is no limited number of boxes the respondent can tick. It was posted on Facebook through the “IUBH group”. As shown in our first question, “what is the age range?” the percentage of majority people varies between 18-21 years old with responses of 43.14%, this is because it represents the age with the most university students. In second place, people aged between 22 and 25 responded with 41.18%, having such a high rate. The percentage is normal because at "IUBH University" there are a lot of students attending different master's degrees. Regarding the age under 18, only one student responded. Citing question number 3, the males who responded are 25 out of 51, while the females are 26 out of 51. In the fifth question ''what semester are you from?'', the percentage of answers was quite distributed between a different number of semesters, but the highest percentage was the 2nd semester with 13 answers, the second highest was that of 1st semester students while all other semesters have a lower response rate. This higher response rate among 1st and 2nd semester students once again explains their curiosity to answer a certain survey and also the fact that they are in the initial part of the university program, which is not so demanding compared to the programs of the upper semester. The students who responded the least in the semester are those in the 4th and 7th, this is due to their internship in Germany or abroad. Question number 6 asks "what type of social media do students use?". As many know nowadays, Whatsapp and Facebook are the social media most used by young people; the result of the survey attributes the highest response rate to these two social platforms, equal to 98% for Whatsapp and 96% for Facebook.
