In the Capstone project, we received the Watertown District Public Schools dataset. With the help of these, the public school district will develop an annual student report card and show it to parents. In this capstone project, I am focusing on Watertown Middle School data for the year 2013 and 2014 and Student Athletics data for the year 2017/18 for all 5 schools that fall within the Watertown district. In Figures 1,2, and 3, I show the number of students enrolled in subjects related to math, English, and algebra in 2013 and 2014 at Watertown Middle School. figure 4, the graph shows that how many Watertown Middle School students get what percentage of grades in the years 2013 and 2014 in both years of all subjects taught in school in all grades. In Figures 5,6 and 7, I have done an in-depth analysis of the Watertown Middle School student. I built the performance graph of students in grades 6,7 and 8, such as how many students got A in grades 6, 7 and 8 A or A- and so on. In figures 8 and 9 below, graphs are constructed on the different sports played by men and women in terms of count. While in graph 10 there is a combination of graphs 8 and 9, but I also added the grade filter in the graph which represents the number of male or female students who played in a specific grade, for example 10 male students played baseball from grade 7. This will reflect the same color in lighter shades. In the graph above is the combination of the two datasets MCAS and I-Ready. I did an inner join between two different datasets based on Student ID (SASID). There are a total of 1139 students enrolled in 5 different schools in the year 2017-18. This graph shows that out of 1139 public school students in the Watertown district how many students are white, how many are African American means black, Hispanic or Latino etc. We analyzed this information through data provided by Watertown District Superintendent, Mrs. Deanne Galdston. In this Watertown District capstone project, our group divided the data among 4 of us. I am analyzing the Watertown Middle School area dataset and athletic data from 5 public schools in the Watertown district area. In the latest graphs, I have combined two datasets which are MCAS – I-ready Equivalent based on Student ID, also known as SAS ID.ConclusionIn conclusion, the results of this capstone project provide valuable information to the Watertown District Superintendent to evaluate academic achievement and effectively track various data elements. By creating an interactive data dashboard, the district's public schools can develop comprehensive annual report cards for students, improving communication with parents and stakeholders. This project focused on analyzing Watertown Middle School data for the years 2013 and 2014, along with student athletics data for the year
