A security analyst performs a variety of tasks such as supervising network traffic and identifying unusual events, protecting against system anomalies, creating security protocols for systems, and many other tasks (Cyber Degrees, 2020). Pursuing a career as a cybersecurity analyst aligns with my career goals in cybersecurity, as my passion is to protect organizations and individuals from cyber threats and contribute to the overall security of digital systems. Since there are not enough security analysts, there would be an increase in crime and the possibility of these criminals getting away with it. There will always be crime, but this would be a situation that needs to be kept under control, so as not to get out of control. If companies are constantly hacked and have their customers' information stolen, they lose credibility resulting in a loss of revenue. If information is stolen from people, it can lead to financial costs and dealing with having your identity stolen, which can be a big hassle. An individual starting a career as a security analyst may have a college degree, personal experience, or a combination of both. This depends entirely on the organization in which they are trying to get a job. Certifications are a great way to make them more attractive to organizations and there are various types that an individual can obtain. These include CEH, CompTIA Network+, CPT, CEPT, CWAPT, and CREA according to (INFOSEC, 2020). Certifications are a great way to keep up-to-date with new developments, test your skills in a certain area, and add possibilities to further advance your advancement in the field of cybersecurity. Some organizations require certain types of certifications for job postings, which can limit what you can apply for. With each certification, the cost of these tests varies. CompTIA Network+ certification costs approximately $340 and there are two tests that must be passed to be certified (INFOTEC, 2017). The requirements for each certification also vary: some require the individual to have 5 years of experience in the IT field before they can even obtain a certification; CompTIA Network+ does not
