The question is, why not China's Lost Boys, as the name of the film says. The name of this film is due to the fact that Chinese people prefer to have a boy as a child. This is due to several factors involving the role of male and female. One positive aspect of a male entering China's population instead of a female is the fact that men make up the majority of their military. This does not mean that women can serve in the armed forces, but men are perceived as stronger and more suitable for this position. Another reason why men are seen as playing a more positive role in entering the Chinese population is because women are said to get married and then lose their last name. However, when men build their lives around the family and if they decide to get married they keep the surname alive. These are two of the reasons why men are perceived as better in China. This has created a patriarchy in China. The fact that there are so few women in China is starting to cause more problems for the country. Once today's men begin to mature and look for a mate to marry, they will most likely have a hard time considering the lack of female population. This could lead to human trafficking and prostitution across China to support men's needs. This type of activity is already underway in China, in the film a man saved a hundred women who were kidnapped against their will. These women were purchased by men who wanted them for sexual favors, marriage, or both. 302
