1. Their beliefs as a Christian (including the sacraments) As a Christian I believe in a Triune God -God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit-, and are consubstantial “of one substance or one in Being”. God the Son is eternally “begotten” from the very being of God the Father, in the same way, Holy God eternally “proceeds” from God the Father. Therefore, we recite the Apostles or the Nicene Creed, not because the UMC is a creedal church, but because it helps members reach our understanding of the Christian faith. As a Methodist, I recognize two sacraments, Baptism and Communion, why two? Because Christ himself participated only in those two sacraments. Baptism is the moment in which man, through immersion, effusion or spring of water, dies in Christ and is resurrected with Christ to a new life as a new creature. It is the beginning of the lifelong journey as disciples of Christ. It is in this moment, when the person unites with the Trinity, becoming a member not only of the whole Church, but also a participant in the body of Jesus - the local congregation -. The decision to be baptized is not a human desire in itself, it is because prevenient grace reaches the person first, and we also respond to them with grace, asking for forgiveness of our sin. (Webpage)Communion, when people gather around the table, giving thanks to God and sharing the bread and cup together in the community of faith, we communicate love with Christ and with each other. Communion is very important because the bread and wine, which have become the blood and body of Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit, not only nourish but also support us on our journey as disciples of Christ. Wesley advocated celebrating it "as often as possible." (Anderson)Baptism and communion are means through which God meets us, works in us and sustains us in mercy... middle of paper... pendants; then I have my adopted sister (we adopt each other) and we share a father, then I have my family here in the US, my closest friends and my extended family in Peru. I have no small children to take care of, my daughter is old enough and stays on her own, which means I am free to serve the Lord with all my time, soul, body, mind and strength. My immediate family supports my calling to serve, especially my daughter who always remembers me for my calling. I am so grateful for the support in many ways from my extended family in Peru. They are excited and awaiting my ordination, and my mother and brothers believe that my father's ministerial legacy in the Lord will soon become a reality. They want to support me not only as a family but also materially. We are planning to build a church – a body of Christ – over there as part of our legacy to our neighbors
