Health is one of the most important points of the human race. It keeps us healthy, functioning, and most importantly, alive. Without adequate health science research, our lives would be much more disease-ridden and, overall, much worse. This is where the role of the physician scientist comes into play. Find new ways to treat or even prevent health problems. Without medical scientists in the picture, our growth as a race would virtually stop. The field of medical science is vital and constantly evolving. Because diseases are constantly changing, medical scientists need to keep an eye out for any viruses or bacteria that could threaten people. For this reason they usually conduct research aimed at improving people's lives. When they are not doing research, they use medical studies or experiments to test their findings (BLS). When a medical scientist demonstrates that his drug can help human health, the FDA must approve it to be placed on the market for the public. Without new prescriptions always being produced, the diseases they prevent may be capable of harming people. This is why medical scientists are so essential to everyone's lives. The career we call medical science has nothing in common with that of a century ago. Even in the early 1900s people still believed that a combination of herbs and spices could cure anything. People paid a lot of money for a special concoction to cure all their ailments. The people who prepared these concoctions had different names around the world, but the practice was relatively the same. The natives of North America were called sorcerers and often wore elegant clothing and headdresses as a symbol of high authority and importance to the village. Sorcerers also usually held a government position due to their respected intellect... half of the document... they eventually published it (Drexel). As a medical scientist goes about his or her daily routine, he or she should be able to use many different tools and supplies. The number one device that a medical scientist should be able to use is an electron microscope. This allows them to view bacteria and viruses at a molecular level which helps them identify diseases. Another tool they should be able to use is a centrifuge. A centrifuge spins liquids at high speed to separate molecules. A Petri dish is also a necessary tool in medical science. They allow bacteria to thrive so they can be studied more thoroughly. The point is that medical scientists would not be able to complete their work without these tools and supplies. Having all the skills and receiving all the education to become a medical scientist requires a lot of hard work, which is why their benefits are so great.
