(Documentary Blood vs. Crips). Victims who were attacked by people from the gang described their attacker as "Crip or Crippled" who later given them the name "The Crips". In 1972, high school or middle school students who were part of the Crips started fighting and ended up being expelled from school, which benefited the gang because it would recruit more members from each school people are part of the gang, the more power the gang receives.
