Topic > Amir's use of allegory in "The Kite" - 1531

Shows his worry and pain because he knew he had betrayed everyone and only had Baba left in his life. He was in a strange place and was unsafe without Baba. The same question Amir asked himself are the same questions I ask myself when I think about losing someone. This quote is symbolism of what America represents to Amir. It shows the development of his character by changing his perspective on life. America symbolizes a new Amir, a way to start over without sin. This quote represents Amir's awareness that his father would die. The imagery that Amir uses allows the reader to connect with Amir understanding that cancer was killing Baba and seeing a picture of cancer hurt Amir as much as seeing a picture of a killer. It connects to the reader by pathetically electing pity in the reader. Amir in this quote shows that he is growing as a husband. Amir doesn't understand some of the customs of Afghan women because he didn't grow up among women. This continues Amir's internal struggle of meeting his mother and his desire for redemption. At this stage of Amir's life, his internal struggle continued because his wife Soraya had shared his past, however he was still too afraid to share his past, and keeps it.
