Topic > Using animals for research - 803

In the pursuit of happiness and well-being, humanity has made advances in technological development, security, communication and medicine. More importantly, humanity is trying to deepen medical research by understanding the origin of diseases to efficiently implement prevention and cure hereditary and acquired diseases. In general, current diseases have been understood by researchers and medical professionals. However, effective treatments for some conditions that affect people are not readily available due to a lack of well-founded research and safety concerns. Furthermore, the newly discovered remedy requires therapeutic testing for its intended use and also to observe any side effects. Animals have been a means that researchers use not only to understand diseases but also to monitor the effectiveness of newly discovered drugs. Side effects of drugs are monitored through the use of animal subjects. With the use of animals, it has caused some controversies which include: testing potential forms of treatment on animals, using animals to advance scientific understanding, and protecting the safety of people, animals, and the environment. (Animal research). The use of animal subjects helps to develop potential forms of treatment. Chronic metabolic diseases including obesity, heart disease and diabetes, for example, have been found in laboratory animals. Those animals were fed certain foods that contribute to their metabolic disease. Some animals had fatty liver, which was reversed by eliminating the source of the disease, namely a high-calorie diet and lack of activity. This type of metabolic disease can be understood in humans in a more complex obesity patient who needs to change the... middle of paper... protect consumers, workers and the environment. Finally, animal welfare is also protected through the use of animal research which aims to understand the origin of diseases and develop a safe treatment for their cause. (Speaking of research).
