Among the different types of pirates in the late 1600s and 1700s, there were many different things that pirates could do as they had their own pirate code. It wasn't universal, but each of the different ships could write different codes for the crew members who were supposed to follow them. In code, it could be anything from when the lights went out to what the crew member's job was for the day. When they returned, they were different from our current navy and merchant ships, the pirates were all democrats. When they had a new captain, he could be elected or eliminated. But there were also several things from which one can understand whether the crew wants to attack a ship or not. These were some of the rules that pirates had. That whoever abandons the Terrible ship, within the time below mentioned, shall forfeit his prize money to the owners and company, to enable them to procure others in their room.2. All on board undertake and agree to serve on board the said vessel Terrible for a period of six months, commencing upon the departure of the said vessel from the Downs.3. That it will be entirely in the power of the captain to sail where he deems most advantageous for the interests of the owners and the ship's company. In some, it is the cruise where the managers, and, in others, where the owners, direct. There are also many different types of pirates such as buccaneers, privateers, and Barbary privateers. For most of the time buccaneers were in the Caribbean island and much of northern South America and most of southern North America. When they arrived they lived around Port Royal and Tortuga.
