Jennifer has always considered herself a good wife. She was thoughtful and trusting. Jennifer knew her husband Mark more than anyone else, at least she thought she did, but one day everything seemed to change. It was around 3pm in the middle of summer in San Francisco, California when Jennifer passed her husband's office. She stopped and stood in front of the closed door when she heard him speaking slowly and quickly on the phone. Jennifer listened carefully. “Can you come later? I need to see you asap” Mark whispered. Suddenly, a wave of shock hit Jennifer. She immediately panicked and felt hot. Jennifer knew exactly what it could be. She didn't want to believe that Mark could actually cheat on her. Mark ended the call and Jennifer left and tried to carry on with the rest of the day. Later that night, Jennifer prepared dinner for her and her husband. Trying to hold back tears, she immediately overreacted to the broken air conditioning. Knowing it wasn't a big deal, Jennifer was still upset about the phone conversation she overheard earlier in the day. "It's been broken for a while now!" he shouted, "Why can't you just fix it?" “I've been busy,” Mark said. This worried Jennifer. “Yes, you have been lately.” Mark didn't seem to think anything of it. It was almost as if Mark didn't seem to care at all. Jennifer didn't understand, he had always been a good husband. Mark always saved time for Jennifer and they had been married for 20 years. She couldn't imagine divorcing Mark. Their relationship was his entire life. Jennifer didn't give up, instead deciding to investigate the situation further. The next morning Jennifer waited for Mark to leave for work. She… middle of paper… you are paranoid.” Jennifer felt upset, but decided not to say anything else. In Jennifer's eyes, Mark had changed and she was determined to prove it. The next day Mark finally had the air conditioning installed and went back to work. Jennifer didn't get out of bed all day. Mark came home late from work and again went straight to his office. He sat there for a while, as if waiting for something. Suddenly Jennifer tiptoed down the stairs and stopped in front of Mark's office door. He quickly opened the door and shot Mark just as he turned. Not long after, the phone rang. Jennifer picked up the phone. "HI?". On the other end was a woman's voice. “Is Mark there?” asked the Woman. “No…he won't be back for a long time,” Jennifer said. “Can you just tell him that Lindsay called?” the woman asked. Jennifer hung up the phone.
