The Supreme Court of Argentina decided to create a cleanup day in 2008. This day was created to clean up the river basin. Unfortunately, this day was unsuccessful. Indeed, on the day of the cleanup, the Río de la Plata was polluted when a lot of waste and chemical landfills were dumped into the river. In 1998, the EcoPlata project began and became another way Argentina was responding to the pollution of the Río de la Plata. This project was created to manage, preserve and economically use the resources of the Río de la Plata. The EcoPlata project is also trying to raise funds to expand the project. To reduce air pollution, La Plata primarily uses trains and buses instead of multiple personal cars. Using fewer vehicles helps reduce pollution
