Topic > Elementary Education Observation - 2169

When I entered South County Elementary School, Theresa Geis, the principal, was waiting for me so she could introduce me to the first through fifth grade teachers. At first it seemed like a dream because I had been in that same school for early childhood observation. Knowles Elementary School has approximately 629 students and a total of 55 teachers (publicschoolreview.com). Students have diverse ethnic backgrounds providing a culturally diverse student body. These ethnic groups include: 48% Hispanic, 40% White, % Unknown, 5% African American, and 1% Asian (publicschoolreview.com). When I walked into Mrs. Robinson's first-grade classroom I knew it was the classroom I wanted to observe. The atmosphere in the classroom was warm and Mrs. Robinson immediately approached me to introduce herself. The classroom was filled with posters, laughter and small children trying to put backpacks and jackets in lockers. The desks were arranged in groups and it was clear that each of the students had a partner with whom they would work throughout the day. When Mrs. Geis left, I was able to sit and watch Mrs. Robinson begin teaching her classroom full of enthusiastic first graders. Borich (2011) explains lesson clarity as: “The ability of the teacher to speak clearly and directly to the class and to organize and structure the content at the students' current level of understanding” (p. 272). This means that the way the teacher speaks and organizes the content of the lesson must be adapted to the students' ability to retain information. There are three different dimensions that must be followed 'goal, they provide information... half of the paper... the statement since the beginning of the semester has not changed except a small part would be that I would add that every moment, minute and second in a class is important these observations I have set personal goals that will help me for the rest of my life These goals are:1. Finish my degree in Elementary Education I hope to have received my masters2. Create a journal or book about all the experiences I have had through observation and as a future teacher. (To go back to when I'm struggling or trying to find an answer to a problem I may have) It will take me a few years to achieve the goals I have; however, I have now observed many teachers who have achieved these goals. These teachers gave me hope and a sense of determination to finish my schooling so I can start making an impact in the world too.
