Being honest about questions you may not even know the answers to, or doubts you may not be able to clarify, can be vital to development during this time. This phase would require complete honesty with students at all times. I believe this could be a critical point in the faith formation process and, if not taken seriously, could lead to too many becoming stuck in the conventional stage and/or causing some to abandon the faith. Additionally, James Fowler discusses the individuative-reflective phase in his six stages of faith development. It is at this stage that my life and faith began to reach higher levels and made me see faith through a different lens. While in this phase, it seems difficult to have conversation and dialogue with those people who have the same ingrained thoughts because this phase pushed me out of the box towards a different worldview.
