Stephanie (Solo traveler and travel consultant) It was nice for me to know I could count on other people, but I actually only met one, as my first solo trip was just perfect! She was a French woman living in the United States. We met a few days after I arrived and since we liked the same things and had the same plans, we stayed together the whole trip. I balanced my two types of travel: with a friend/alone. And the choice was clear: traveling alone was for me, as I could be alone with the locals or decide to spend a few days with another traveler. This is total freedom! Since this first trip I have been to Asia twice a year. My second trip was also to China. I don't speak China but I feel at home there. Our fears are our worst enemies.
