He was transformed into Mr. Hyde. I believe that evil is only a small part of men, that's why Mr. Hyde looked very small. The main point of Dr. Jekyll was to lead two different lives with two different personalities. However, he realized that one faces many difficulties when one side of one's personality is suppressed. Even people who lead different lives seek some semblance of balance between the good and the bad in both their lives. Not having a good conscience means that it is easy for someone to submit to temptation.
