No one is perfectly rational, and in modern American political culture we see very little reason used to make decisions, although that would be lovely. Emotions will always be a determining factor, even in the best leaders. Weber believed that a leader should have the social standing to inspire obedience and cooperation, not only in public, but also in the workplace. Weber argues that it is better for an organization to be carefully structured so that employees are loyal to the organization and not to their supervisors. I believe that loyalty to your superiors is important, within reason. I believe an employee's ultimate loyalty should lie with the organization's mission and not with a fallible leader, but a boss who recognizes the personal support of his or her employees can be an advocate for their career and a good professional advocate for them. Being loyal to a boss or supervisor does not mean covering up mistakes or being deceitful in any way. It is simply about supporting the goals and objectives of the employer through your work contribution.
