Indians' thoughts on the war varied. They would fight for lands, to prove themselves, and in other various types of feuds. When Europeans migrated to the New World they didn't just bring themselves. They introduced a new arsenal and diseases. The primitive weapons of the Indians were no match for the sophisticated weapons of the Europeans. Although the Indians won some battles against the Europeans with their bows, arrows and spears, the Indians were unable to resist the Europeans. Various battles over land ended with the conquest of the Indians by the Europeans. By 1670, Europeans in New England outnumbered Indians. The English population had multiplied while the Indian population had decreased. Diseases brought by Europeans such as smallpox, influenza, measles, and yellow fever were a major factor in the downfall of the Indian population.
