As a hospital administrator, I would work more "behind the scenes" of the hospital and help patients by supervising all medical staff and making sure they give the best medical care possible. My advanced training in psychology would give me an unusual advantage over many administrators, who know very little about actually caring for patients in a hospital, because they usually have a business background. As a clinical psychologist I would work directly with patients. Clinical psychologists offer “microcare” because they help individual patients, while hospital administrators offer “macrocare” because they care for the entire hospital. Both hospital administration and clinical psychology would achieve my original goal of helping people overcome psychological disorders, thus improving physiological conditions.
