Teachers discuss extending high school to five years due to increasing demands on students from employers and universities to participate to extracurricular activities and community service as well as having high grades. Some teachers advocate extending high school to five years because they think students need more time to achieve everything expected of them. Other teachers are not in favor of extending high school to five years because they think students would lose interest in school and attendance would decline by the fifth grade. In my opinion, high school should not be extended to five years. I believe that school should not be extended to five years because students would certainly lose interest in it. High school is also a students responsibility and if a student fails then it is their mistake and they should not get an extra year just to have an extra chance to get better grades to get into college. My final reason is that there will be more students dropping out by the fifth year due to loss of interest. High school should not be increased an extra year just like that....
