Jeannette, Lily and Liz all came from different backgrounds, but in the end they were able to break free from their past and achieve goals that never seemed possible. They struggled with drug-addicted, alcoholic and abusive parents and were left to fend for themselves. With a lot of perseverance, self-determination and commitment, they were able to make choices that helped them recover from their past. In Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story, Liz had the opportunity to go to school as a child, but as she grew up she rarely went. He stayed at home with his parents and only went to take the final exam to pass the grade.
