Mark Twain said, “It is by the good fortune of God that, in this country, we have three advantages: freedom of speech, freedom of thought, and wisdom never to use both”. Maybe this is what happened when Arizona's new law was created. What does law mean? Law is a set of rules established by a government authority to establish and maintain an orderly society (Merriam Webster's). A new law called SB 1070 has been written with hostile points that threaten human rights. Thousands of illegal immigrants were forced to return to their countries. I admit that illegal immigration is a federal government crime, but SB 1070 is a discriminatory law against Hispanics. I believe that Arizona's SB 1070 law should be banned because it only targets one specific type of illegal aliens, Hispanic ones, who promote racism. First of all, Arizona's SB 1070 was signed into law on April 23, 2010 by Jan Brewer. SB 1070 stands for “Support Our Law Enforcement and Neighborhoods Act.” This bill was created to give police officers the right to stop individuals who may be immigrants and ask for their documents proving that they are U.S. citizens or legal residents. I certainly believe that this is racial profiling because to identify whether someone is a legal resident or not, someone will have to look at the person's racial appearance. Indeed this is what is happening: police officers will not look for people in hijabs or Japanese people; they will target Spanish-speaking individuals. That said, what did those aliens do wrong? Are these aliens stopped or arrested for a legal crime or for racial reasons? Isn't this being racist, I think so? Illegal immigration is a federal government... at the center of the paper... present racism against Latinos. Vote no on an anti-immigrant, deceptive act like Arizona's SB 1070. Let's think about what would happen if those immigrants did not allow US citizens to come to their countries? What if these immigrants severed all connections with America? What will happen? Some legal citizens may be needed for their work; for example, cleaning toilets to live on minimum wage. Imagine it? As for me, I am not willing to do it; will some other legal citizen do it? I honestly don't believe it. Let's stand up firmly and make our voices heard by defending our rights because no one else will. All it takes is a little effort and we could make a huge difference to stop further adoption of this bill in other states. Standing up, united as one soul, helping each other will ensure that our freedoms are validated; it only takes one action to conquer..
