I feel like the novel gave me a clear and accurate vision of what it would have been like to be a fly on the wall in those secret meetings. The novel captures a good picture of what it would have been like to be a member of the royal family or a simple commoner trying to make a change. Most of the political figures/groups in the novel were given distinctive personality traits that made the reader aware of how important status and power were to those living in the 1700s.
