According to Galdon, Solvensky, Smaltz (2014), a PMO is a centralized organization dedicated to improving project practice and outcomes through the holistic management of all projects (p. 315 ). Among the various functions of a PMO; issue regular communications to project stakeholders and the rest of the organization regarding the progress or status of projects, and provide authoritative management and oversight of all projects, paralleling the similar functions of a VMO (Galndon et al., p. 328 ). Both the PMO and VMO play an important role in decision making and creating excellent outcomes for their organization. They act as a link between stakeholders and the rest of the organization to ensure that project outcomes match the needs of users and stakeholders. PMOs and VMOs also supervise and monitor the daily activities of the vendors and team members responsible for the project. Therefore, it can be concluded that PMO and VMO functions are focused on important decision making and project oversight to create excellent outcomes for their projects.
