CHAPTER 3 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY3.1 IntroductionThe purpose of this chapter is to describe the methodology used to achieve the research objectives of this study. This section discusses the study area, sample selection, data collection, and data analysis procedures. The study attempted to identify which attractions satisfy tourists who visited Fiji and to identify the relationship between destination attractions and overall tourist satisfaction, controlling for tourists' demographic and travel behavior characteristics.3.2 Study areaThe destinations tourism consists of different types of planned attractions and has succeeded in providing tourists with interests, activities and entertainment. Gunn (1988) and Lee (1999) explained that tourist destinations, such as national parks, theme parks, beaches, resorts and cultural/heritage destinations can be grouped based on their basic resource base: natural or cultural. While natural resource-based destinations include beach resorts, campgrounds, parks, golf courses, nature reserves and scenic drives, cultural/heritage resource-based destinations include historic sites and ethnic areas. The research area for this study was destination Fiji. Fiji has been recognized internationally as a wedding destination with numerous awards for its tropical climate and white sandy beaches. There are also other motivational attractions which consist of cultural attractions such as the traditional welcoming ceremony that the Fijian culture performs for the visitors and also the food, not forgetting the customs and traditional dances performed in which the tourists and most of the situations enjoy participation. . Fiji tourism dates back to the early years......half of the newspapers......were crucial in inspiring Chinese travellers. Furthermore, through an analysis of previous studies, this research chose tourists' demographics and travel behavior characteristics, in order to determine differences in the contribution of attractions to tourists' satisfaction.
