Advertising has been around for many decades. It is used to promote company products and services. Advertising has negatively influenced the thinking of children and adolescents of this generation. It has influenced the diet of younger audiences, increased consumerism in children and brought about changes in their attitude. The use of advertising has had a negative impact on children's diets. As the number of children watching television has increased, they are more exposed to advertising. They eat more than usual because they spend time watching TV during breakfast, lunch and dinner. In a study conducted by Yasare Akta Sarnas, the researcher informed readers that 90% of children who watched TV ate or drank while watching television (Sarnas, 2006, p.140). The food they ate or drank was unhealthy. Food commercials are on the rise and many companies are exploiting the need for aesthetic sensations to attract their audiences. They make their product attractive and attractive. They use models to promote their product to attract men. Many companies use a similar strategy to attract younger audiences. The most advertised items are sweets/chocolate, crisps, dairy products and breakfast cereals (Sarnas, 2006, p.140). It is very rare to see a commercial about fruits, vegetables and all the other important nutrients. The reason childhood obesity is on the rise is due to the amount of bad publicity they are exposed to. If they had been exposed to advertisements that benefited their health, the results would have been different. In the research, the researcher concluded that younger children paid more attention to advertising than older children (Sarnas, 2006, p.142). Having unhealthy food… middle of paper… has a huge influence on the type of food young viewers eat. They convince them to spend money on toys/clothes. Unfortunately, children are very vulnerable when they are young. Therefore, these advertisements lead them to negative behavioral change. In today's world, parents should pay close attention to their children, because the world is not safe. We are all victims of advertising. It is around us all the time. Works Cited Arnas, Y. (2006).
