As I walk into the hospital you get that hospital-like smell. I walk to the door of room 202 and have a sad feeling that everyone has to wait hours for the doctor to arrive, ["Hey good morning Mr. Hawkins"]. [“What's up, Dr. Kane”] I reply. [“Well, I have good news and bad news”] [“the bad news is that you have an anterior cruciate ligament tear”] [“the good news is that there is a chance that you can recover if you have surgery surgical"]. Tears slowly fall from my eyes as he speaks while I think to myself ["why me"]. The next day I met with the coaches and trainer, they sat me down and told me that next semester we will have to cut some of your scholarship money. After the coach told me my heart was dropping it seemed like nothing could be worse than that. I had surgery which was difficult for me because I couldn't do anything I liked to just lay in bed and think about my life which was kind of depressing for me. I thought about my future every day as if football wasn't worth it anymore. Today, September 19, 2016. I am faster, better and stronger than I have ever been. I am currently attending Chicago city colleges to get my credits and raise my GPA, and from here I plan to attend Southern A and M or Minot State to play football again on a full scholarship. My advice to everyone is never let anyone tell you what you can't do as long as you work hard you can prove it
