Topic > I am a peace within us - 799

I believe that peace is within us. Human beings have peace locked inside and it is only unlocked when a crisis arises. When a crisis is active that is when we fight for peace. The way human beings strive for peace is very selfish. We see peace only as a safety net. Throughout the ages of history; we see human beings fall prey to violence but we also see them bursting with peace. When destruction occurs in our world, we see ambitious individuals and groups fighting for peace. This only happens when things are dark and morbid. Disorder brews due to violent individuals and groups. I think violence is innate in some individuals. In the past, violence has always been resolved through conflict in which only one winner can prevail. I want violence to become constructive violence and I would follow the "Conflict Resolution" method. According to Brunk (2012), “But where is there a “win-win” solution that would allow both to fully achieve their goals” (p. 21). My peace will need this resolution. This method of conflict control is necessary for our world to transition to a peaceful world. Kant's Solution to the Conflict (1795), "Standing armies (miles perpetuus) will in time be entirely abolished" (paragraph 3). Kant warns us that an army that does not mobilize, but is nevertheless used and ready to strike, is tiring. I think if everyone abolished the army it would be a big gamble, but help us towards peace. My perception of militarism is that countries are still afraid of each other and need an army to protect themselves. How will we ever achieve any kind of peace with such a focus on the military? Kant's idea of peace is perpetual. He believes in infinite peace. Your ideas can help my idea of peace. My peace proposal is an obstacle to his. This branch of...... middle of paper ...... educated and continues with the study of peace. As I interacted with people in my life, I noticed that we are capable of achieving “imperfect peace” and being a nonviolent race. Everyone has the ability to be cohesive and be a true nation. In our search for peace, we must be prepared for conflict and we will have protagonists. Freud warns us: "It cannot be said... But one thing we can say: everything that favors the growth of culture works at the same time against war." (Webel, 2012, p. 65) Freud's quote summarizes my definition of peace that in the midst of a crisis we (humans) think about peace and take care of it. I believe Freud tells us that with peace will come the inevitable reckoning with conflict. As human beings, we should not give up peace and overcome conflict with it. Furthermore, do not preach an unattainable peace, but preach a realistic peace.
