In verbal communication, feedback is important because it provides a better understanding of the message that was being encoded. In other words, if a professor asks you a question during class and you respond with "I don't know," or don't answer at all, then the professor can only assume that you weren't paying attention during class, or you don't understand the question. : Give feedback that perhaps the professor needs to repeat the question or phrase it in a way that you understand.
