These factors were also complemented by my second and third year placements where I completed case work and child protection tasks where I began to learn how the protection process of childhood is addressed nationally, locally and also by the individual. On top of this, my second and third year placements were in a legal context, so I already knew how many local authority systems operated and also many other agencies interested in working with families and children in the area. I also built relationships with other professionals, which meant we could do without any induction period. These factors help me to achieve what I consider to be good outcomes for the families I work with or to achieve what the local authority believes are the best interests of the child. I use both informal and formal reflection and supervision to examine my practice and to identify areas where there may be deficits or areas of good practice that I can pass on to colleagues through peer and team support
