In the second section of this article I will discuss how to live a happy life. I will show you the type of person who lives a happy life and discuss the traits and qualities that a happy person embodies. In my opinion, someone who is happy lives a life close to Susan Wolf's essay Meaning in Life and Why It Matters with a little Aristotle. According to Wolf, there are two significant points of view for people to live a meaningful life. The first opinion is that people should do something they love. The second view is that you must pursue something worthy of love. The two views together are what shape Wolf's vision and my vision of a path to a happy and meaningful life. The first view of doing something that you get pleasure from is the subjective view. You have to take pleasure in your life to be happy. The loved object must belong to something “bigger than ourselves”. This is the objective view from which you can receive objective meaning. This objective meaning is that there must be a value felt by other people besides you. Wolf combines these two ideas into what I think is one of the main ideas of his work. “You could paraphrase this by saying that, in my view, meaning arises when subjective attraction meets objective attractiveness” (Wolf, p. 9). I think we also need to look to Aristotle to fully understand how you are happy. Aristotle believes that it is necessary to show appropriate virtue towards pleasure and pain. This boils down to the fact that you have to do the right thing in a given situation. You can create your own happiness. This account of happiness is better than other accounts of happiness. If we look at other philosophers, they represent self-interest and... middle of paper... the driveway across the street. An inappropriate pursuit of happiness would mean becoming happy over someone else's pain or suffering. I think this would lead to unhappiness because I don't think becoming happy over someone else's pain is morality, self-interest, or love. In conclusion, to be happy you need to find a passion that you love. This passion must be worthy of love. This passion should, however, be appropriate and something that can be considered meaningful by other people. It is very important that this description of happiness includes the factor of doing things out of love, because this is an important reason for doing things that cannot be explained in any other way. A happy person will not compare their life with that of other people and will not judge which is better. This person will live their life the best way they know how and appropriately.
