Monday: Patterns and Paradoxes One of the recurring events that take place at the beginning of the book includes Harry's desire to hear from his friends. A couple of months have passed without receiving any news, or owl messages, from any of his fellow wizards. He is reminded several times that he appears to have no outside friends in his home. With his encounter with Dobby, the house elf, Harry can't help but feel left out and unwanted. Added to this feeling is the hatred that his adoptive family, the Dursleys, share for him. Dudley, Harry's cousin, practically scolds himself that Harry has no letters from his friends. Adding to Harry's discomfort and loneliness is the fact that his birthday has arrived without any recognition. Later, when Dobby casts a spell in the house, Harry is blamed by the wizarding community, as if it were his fault. This idea that no one seems to care about Harry is quite evident in the first two chapters. The breaking point is when Harry is locked in his bedroom and is fed soup and bread sparingly. It is here that Harry's friends save him and put him out of his misery. Once rescued, Harry becomes less moody and much happier. This also seems to be an important element in the story. Harry will sometimes feel like nothing could be worse only to be proven wrong by some helpful person or situation. Once Harry enters the wizarding world, he is once again abandoned, accidentally, and left to fend for himself. He ends up in an alley with many people who practice the Dark Arts, or the evil side of magic. Here too he is saved from his sad situation by a friend, Hagrid. Looking at what has happened up to this point, one will definitely see that Harry will find his way out of whatever dark corner he finds himself in. Tuesday: Origin and Details: At this point in the story, Harry is faced with a dilemma. He and Ron, his best friend, are stranded in a train station in the normal, muggle world. They decide to use a magical flying car to get to school, which is not only dangerous, but illegal. After flying the car to school, they crash into a tree which then beats them, causing the boys to be ejected from the car and flee into the nearby woods..
