Comics, comics and graphic novels are becoming more and more popular nowadays. However, reading comics is not an extremely new type of contemporary literature as its antecedents were created in the late 19th century. In particular, the form that is today considered and described as comics is, in fact, a typical genre of the 20th century. To become an interdisciplinary branch of literary studies, comics, comics and graphic novels are being analyzed, as a result more and more critics, reviews and analyzes are published, especially in universities where comics analysis is considered an interdisciplinary 'science'. Comics, comics, and graphic novels can be examined from various points of view as can any other type of literary object. From these critical points of view, one of the most interdisciplinary schools of criticism is the gender point of view.
