The Code of Professional ConductPublic affairs practice has many definitions, one of which is communicating with the public to create and sustain good mutual relationships with an organization or company. There are PR agents who work in-house and others who work for an agency, wherever you work as a PR professional there are certain codes of ethics that you are asked to follow drafted in the Lisbon Code drafted in or the Athens Code drafted soon I will discuss the clause in the Code of Professional Conduct drawn up by the Irish Institute of Public Relations at the twentieth annual general meeting of the Irish Institute of Public Relations on 8 December 2003. These codes enhance the integrity of the practice and are very important . Your conduct towards the public is an important factor in this industry, you must disclose all relevant information to the public as soon as possible. The Public Relations Code of Professional Practice was adopted by the 20th Annual General Meeting of Members of the Institute of Public Relations of Ireland. It asks its members to abide by a code of ethics whose main clauses are the following and are extremely similar to the code of ethics drawn up by the public relations institute. They first believe that the professional practice of public relations is a correct, legitimate and important activity and we believe that the existence of the code enhances integrity. All activities associated with representing the interests of a client or employer in relation to any public policy matter, including: · Providing professional advice to clients/employers on matters relevant to public policy or law; o procurement, selection, appointment or assignment for public contracts or offices · Legitimate and ethical actions intended to promote a change in public policy or law; · The presentation of representations or the defense of a point of view to any person or institution, including the provision of information and advice. CODE OF (Adopted by the 20th annual general meeting of members of the Institute of Public Relations of Ireland held in Dublin on 8 December 2003) The Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) believes that the professional practice of public relations and lobbying are appropriate, legitimate and important activities, which ensure open and two-way communication between national and local (including the Oireachtas, the whole public service, as well as other bodies financed wholly or mainly by public funds), the institutions of the European Union (EU) and bodies whose activities and interests are governed, regulated, influenced or otherwise influenced by such institutions.
