In the academic article No compulsion in religion'Q2.256 in the medieval and modern interpretation of Dr. Patricia Crone explains the different interpretation of the famous verse in Sura 2:256 “There it is no compulsion in religion.” This article goes on to explain an incredible amount of research on primary sources written in Arabic and other languages from the early Middle Ages to the present century. These interpretations have had a great impact on the history of Islam, helping it transform into what it is today, although some Muslims are still unaware of the various past clarifications this verse has undergone. The verse Sura 2:256 "There is no compulsion in religion", for me there were two different versions, one private and the other that took into consideration the Muslim's belief. The first interpretation I had was that they should not force no one to become Muslim because religion is anyone's free choice; everyone has the right to choose whether they want to believe or not. Furthermore, it makes no sense to force someone to embrace a religion because if they didn't believe in it in their heart, they wouldn't have it no interest and no faith in it. Forcing someone to believe would only develop problems and make non-believers act like pretenders, and that is not what religion in the world is about. My next interpretation has more to do with Muslim belief that Allah is an all-influential god, who sees everything and also indicates who should believe and who should not believe. Therefore, this verse can be explained as God choosing people to believe freely based on their own determination and those who are not chosen, they basically don't believe, but this is also their choice. ...... middle of paper ...... one decision can change the future. Furthermore, the analysis of these different interpretations of the verse gave me a new notion and point of view on the text. Therefore, I came up with the new idea that people should never be forced to believe in a religion they don't want to, under any circumstances. Also, I agree that we as humans can be convinced to believe externally, but it may be difficult to convince them internally, which provides no excuse to push them to believe in religion. According to what the verses of the Quran say, “God does not force people to believe in Him because people have free will”. In other words, if God doesn't force people to believe in Him, we have no right to force anyone else to believe our beliefs. Doing this will lead us to go against God because God is the One we cannot meet or surpass.
