Improving the lives of others has always been important to me. During my undergraduate studies, I volunteered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. In this program, I met with a little girl once a week after school and we talked about her week, did activities, and just enjoyed each other's company. I loved being a mentor and providing stability to a little girl who doesn't have many stable adults in her life. I also helped my peers in college by providing mentorship through a program for freshmen and first-generation students of color. This program is important to me because I can help students achieve success in challenging courses. These experiences will help me be a great doctor, because they taught me to appreciate people who are different from me, they helped me gain patience, and they gave me the skills necessary to help
