InfluenceThomas Huxley, a famous biologist and teacher of HG Wells, once said that "We live in a world full of misery and ignorance, and the simple duty of each of us is try to make the little corner that he can influence a little less miserable and a little less ignorant than it was before he entered it" (Zaadz). In other words, we all have a duty to make the world a better place by leaving our influence on others. At some point in our lives, we have all had someone or something close to us that has left its influence on us and HG Wells is no different. Anthony West explains that his "father always had a tin ear in this region, and his more refined admirers often complained of the little flaw which enabled him to give his women such horrible names - poor Weena of The Time Machine is a privileged case" (West, 370). Weena is the only character in the entire novella who has a name; all other characters are known by their initials or their occupation. There hasn't been a specific reason in past documents like
