The problems posed by this article are that there are two groups of users, prescriptive and descriptivist. Prescriptivists are concerned with structure and a traditional view of use, while descriptivists adapt use as they like. If usage had no structure there would be no way to refer to something nor would there be an actual language. It would be the anarchy of use. However, if we never challenged usage or adapted to the evolution of generations, we would exclude so many new advances. There is obviously a middle ground and this is where the American usage should be. When we discover new things, sometimes there are no words to describe them and we have to adapt our language to include these new discoveries. Our nation and population are getting bigger and bigger and we need to keep traditions alive and preserve our language.
