The day was sunny, a little cold but beautiful. Moving on to the LRC I picked up a newspaper; and to my humiliating surprise there was an article about a waste disposal facility being built in Tulare. These words meant a lot to me because I am from Tulare County. I have smelled wastewater, seen wastewater, and worked in wastewater. Every county should be required to invest in a wastewater facility, regardless of the cost. Taxpayers can help should help. My friends and I had to work at the wastewater treatment plant when we were just teenagers. Whenever we got into trouble that was our punishment from the courts. Every time we went before the judge he or she sent us to the wastewater plant. You see, twenty years ago that was, as far as I was concerned, the dirtiest job in the valley. From the moment I entered the plant, I really wanted to know how it worked, what process was needed to make everything run smoothly. Since I would be spending the entire summer working for the county for free, it was time to get something out of this stint in county jail. We all concentrated and started asking questions; on the whole; how it worked, why it worked and why we needed it. This was the only way to learn about wastewater, ask questions; after we started finding out more and more, it became so interesting that we started reading more and more about the topic. It was so fascinating to learn about Mother Nature, how she works with wastewater. The more we learned about wastewater, the more I wanted to know what it did for the valley itself. If there is nowhere to put the wastewater; it's not good, we would be like foreign countries, with our waste running in the streets, ours in the courtyards,...... middle of paper......k which covers ethics and negligence; total quality management. Also related to customer relationships, communication skills (Roper, etc. all). Given how wastewater is these days, I believe every county should have a wastewater protection program plan on order, or in the near future, on a county supervisor's desk as soon as practicable. Feeling good about this program is just the surface of the problem, this program should expand nationwide; perhaps all over the world. Work cited McKay, Gordon. Wastewater.
