Religion and tradition are intertwined, especially in smaller cities. 83% of Mexico's population is Roman Catholic. The Mexican tradition is a tradition of celebrations. Whether it is the world-famous Quinceañera, a wedding, Navidad (Christmas) or Pascua (Easter), a religious function is traditional in every major celebration. When it's a holiday, the whole town normally comes together to celebrate, and everyone contributes and does their own little part. They have huge parades with dancing, piñatas, music, food and lots of fun. I was very intrigued by the fact that they organized big parties at Christmas, but didn't receive any gifts. They received the gifts during El Día de los Reyes Magos (The Day of the Three Kings).
