As the author of "Silence Killing Your Company" points out, it is very costly not to speak. If you do something illegal at your place of business that you morally object to, continue doing it anyway. You may be held legally responsible for your actions. As in the case of Enron, many people who simply followed orders and refused to speak openly about problems within the company cost time in prison. They never spoke out so they were held accountable for their actions. In this case I believe it is important to stand up and make your voice heard to defend yourself and those who are hurt by the actions taken by your superiors. The scandal not only cost top-level executives their freedom, it cost hundreds of people their life savings and jobs. If anyone had spoken out, these innocent people would have a wonderful retirement ahead of them instead of working until the day they do
