In Thompson's article, he runs numerous studies and surveys to ask what the homeless really need most, with "help finding a job" (Thompson) coming up with the highest percentage. This survey makes the connection that while spare change may help the needy for a day or two, providing a way to change that person's life would have a greater benefit. As a result, Magill explains how the city of Grand Junction is addressing homelessness.
