Goodwill International is a non-profit organization whose primary goal is to provide job training, internships and other community-based projects to people with disabilities. The organization also extends its services to veterans which includes people who lack work experience, necessary education or face difficulties in securing employment. The nonprofit is funded by a chain of retail thrift stores, which also operate as nonprofit entities in the locations where they are located. Goodwill is made up of a system of 165 independent community-based organizations operating in 15 countries, including the United States, Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay, Panama and Canada, among others. The organization uses the majority of its revenue to provide training, employment and other relevant support to its employees who currently number more than 6 million. This document evaluates Goodwill International based on key concepts such as volunteerism, accountability, strategic planning and fundraising as they relate to its mission, vision and purpose. Additionally, the document suggests several recommendations that could bring various benefits to Goodwill if implemented. Although Goodwill International is successful, it is not efficient and must implement additional strategies to improve its efficiency. This document makes several recommendations to help Goodwill International improve its efficiency. Some of the strategies include: improving communications strategy, improving fiscal health, implementing new marketing strategies, introducing employee performance measurement techniques, and changing donation policies to include more items.
