On October 1st the US government shut down, the very only thing keeping us from shutting down complete and utter anarchy for 16 days. So why do we treat it like it's common media garbage. Our government may be acting like a bunch of kids when it comes to the debt crisis, but having to shut down over a disagreement seems like a bit of a drastic measure. The shutdown caused many programs to shut down, although many others were still able to function. If the closure had lasted longer the problem would have been even bigger. Something this big is no joke, it could have been much worse and people need to understand that. This debt problem that had a big impact on this shutdown didn't come out of nowhere. This has been building up since Bush was in the Oval Office, and since then the problem has been avoided and wasteful spending has never been higher. US troops were equipped and flown around the world, costing the Treasury billions. Many of the companies and banks that were unable to make it on their own were all bailed out, costing the country over $700 billion. Hundreds of thousands of unemployed families have been given enough money to live a middle class lifestyle and it has only cost us $520 billion, and let's not get started on free healthcare. And these are just some of the expenses that have led us to our ever-increasing $17 trillion debt situation. How trustworthy do we seem as a country with a pending debt problem and an unresponsive government? If this continues we will be the United States of nothing and it is very likely that our debts will be repaid with your freedom. The closure lasted from October 1st to 16th. That's 16 days without a government holding the center of paper ... culling Highlighted vulnerability of US public health and biomedical research to political controversy. " 310.18 (1013): 1907.
